TOURISM is to become a key federal election issue as a report shows the Far North is the most dependent on the industry to provide jobs.
Tourism and Transport Forum’s new National Tourism Business Count and Employment shows that the electorate of Leichhardt is number one in eight “red” zones where tourism accounted for 7 per cent or more jobs.
In an effort to revive the lucrative though static young traveller market, Tourism Australia will spend $4 million on an expanded ”Best Job in the World” global campaign with each of the winners to receive a $100,000 six-month ”salary package”, including living costs.

Today we were up early to pick up our new camper for the 2nd leg of our road trip, taking us across to the middle of Australia and then down to Alice Springs…… After 4 hours of driving back on ourselves down the Bruce Highway we got to the A6 the start of the desert drive…. After 100kms we arrived to our camp site in Charters Towers…
