Recent conversations with my friends and peers have brought to my attention the amount of people who are afraid to fly. I for one do not understand this as I have a real crave for travel, especially overseas. My last adventure was to Phuket where I sat an eight hour flight, it left me feeling a bit tired and cranky but the in house movies, video games, great service and munchies on board kept my mind off the long journey.
When young, I am sweet in the sun.
When middle-aged, I make you gay.
When old, I am valued more than ever.

Join in the spirit of Ten Days in the Towers this year and enter our Photographic Competition. Entry is open to everyone and is unlimited in number of entries but photos must have taken during the event to reflect the theme “Digging for Gold” and symbolize the people, an event or a happening during this period.

This morning, 14th June, Shane Knuth visited with the Charters Towers 60 and Better Program to present them with their very own Queensland Flag. Shane kindly donated the Australian Flag to the 60 and Better Program in time for their ANZAC Day luncheon and promised to order a Queensland Flag for them as well. As Shane’s valuable assistant Verna explained, getting hold of the Queensland Flag meant going through a few channels to obtain one.

Wednesday night will see the final round of Netball as it comes to a halt for three weeks, over the school holiday period. Due to some school commitments, some teams have had to change their game times and days to endeavour to ensure their rounds are complete.

A North Queensland company has become the first naming rights sponsor for the Porcupine Gorge Challenge since its inception 12 years ago, representing the event’s growth. Townsville–based Rydweld Pty Ltd, which began in 1994 in Julia Creek when two brothers decided to start their own family business manufacturing Toyota tray bodies, has signed on as principal sponsor of the event for the next three years.

The Charters Towers Burnouts Cars & Bike Club inc have been commended by the community for their efforts in entertainment on the weekend. The annual Burnout Competition was held Saturday night June 8, 2013 at the Charters Towers Go Kart Track and attracted over 2000 people to the event.
There was a green house. Inside the green house there was a white house. Inside the white house there was a red house. Inside the red house there were lots of babies. What is it?

A reminder that the not-to-be-missed Don Roderick 2013 Evolution Mining Art Competition being held at the Don Roderick Art Gallery will run for two weeks from the 29th June to the 13th July, with opening night being Saturday 29th June at 6.30 pm.
