Norah’s Netball News – August 03 2012

By Norah Vinson
Last Wednesday evening was a quiet night at the Jupiter courts due to the Secondary Schools formal.
The McDonalds Netball Association endeavours to ensure only junior games are played on this special night for our senior teams whom have Secondary school children, as playing members. The game of the night went to Jemcko Jems and Gabes Scorchers in the Intermediate division. These teams have always been extremely close with Scorchers taking the first round points by beating Jemcko Jems 20-17.
When the second round came around the Jems girls managed to pull off an upset by taking the Scorchers by 8 goals to make the score 28-20 by the sound of the siren. Last Wednesday saw Scorchers pull back to their winning form and push the Jemcko Jems girls to their limit.
Kasey Gough was inspirational for Scorchers and directed her team around the court to perfection. Her never- say -die attitude earned her the Player of the match. Bessie Ford, Seanne Santo and Bianca Peace also worked hard for Scorchers and the shooting of Peace was exceptional. Emily Boevink and Madi McColl worked overtime in Defence for Jems as did Molly Pickering at Wing Attack.
Chelsea Harris returned to the court from an absence of 6 weeks to endeavour to pull her team mates back into the game. The result of a 5 goal win to Scorchers was deserved leading 28-23 by the final whistle.
