Norah’s Netball News – July 27 2012

By Norah Vinson
On Sunday the 5th of August the annual McDonalds Charters Towers Junior Netball Carnival will commence sharply at 8:00a.m.
A record forty-six teams of players under 18 years, will attend the carnival, in what should be a day of fun-filled activity on the Jupiter Netball courts, at the Rugby Union Sports reserve.
Association president Norah Vinson states,
The committee are overwhelmed by the response we have had this year from teams to participate in our little grass roots carnival. Last year we had 34 teams compete so to jump 12 teams, which equates to around 120 children, is phenomenal. Our courts will be so full we have had to mark a grass court out, to create more courts.
Charters Towers will supply 18 teams whilst 16 teams will travel from Townsville, 4 from the Burdekin, 5 from Herbert River and 3 from Hughenden. The carnival will only be held on Sunday with the committee seriously looking at holding it over two days in the future. With over 400 spectators also expected to come along to watch the entertainment at the courts, its sure to be a day not-too-be-missed!!!
